CTI - Center of information technology

For several years, the CIO of the Center of information technology of the state of Geneva and the members of the Observatoire technologique campaign in favor of the use of open source and open standards. The key motivations that guide their approach are a better control of information systems, greater neutrality in the choice of solution vendors together with openness to business and citizens interacting with the public services. Open source and open standards have a global societal impact due to a model based on knowledge sharing and reuse of components. They also promote local economic development by lowering barriers to market entry.

In late 2006 the State Council of the state of Geneva has confirmed this vision by enacting a measure to promote the use of open source in the public sector. It was therefore natural that the canton of Geneva joins the organization of the Linux Days 2009.
